Project Director Md. Jamal Uddin represent about Training Project at inaugural program

Since there is no training cell in the National Library of Bangladesh, I wanted to establish a training cell for library professionals. Thus, I decided to organize the first Librarian training cell in Bangladesh. I submitted a training project proposal to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and eventually got financial support for this project from the Ministry of Finance.

As soon as the project was approved, I started to lead the project as a Project Director. I targeted 40 library professionals of NLB(National Library of Bangladesh) for their ICT skill development so that they can adopt ICT and perform successfully. I came up with training modules by creating several levels (top level, Mid Level-1, and Mid Level-2) based on my experience of Korea training. Each group consists of 10 people and they undergo 20 days of training. As a result, they are working with ICT successfully. It helps us to create a digital library service.

CPI training inspired me to work on the ISBN(International Standard Book). When I came back in Bangladesh, I discussed with my Director regarding the ISBN service and he was pleased to nominate me in the International ISBN Agency, giving me national ISBN issuing authority. Now I'm issuing and approving ISBN online to publishers and authors in Bangladesh. It's easy to categorize and track all types of books. I figured that almost 8000 books are published in Bangladesh every year.
